Homophobic Reggae Star’s Shows Canceled

Buju Banton has had several U.S. performances canceled after LGBT advocacy groups organized a campaign to stop the promotion of the singer whose lyrics encourage burning, shooting in the head, and pouring acid over the faces of gay people.Internet campaigns gathered more than 650 complaints for Live Nation, the promoter that owns the House of Blues venues where Banton was set to perform.Though Banton agreed to the Reggae Compassionate Act in 2007, he now denies promising not to perform songs that advocate homophobia. His scheduled shows in Chicago, Las Vegas, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Philadelphia have all been canceled by promoters in response to a petition and e-mails from LGBT people and their allies.
To quote Ellen DeGeneres: It's a "gay win!"
